Procurement and Supply Chain Strengthening Project (PSSP)

Medical Access was contracted by the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)/Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to implement a 5-year grant for Procurement and Supply Chain Strengthening for the Private-Not-For-Profit service delivery points in Uganda.

This project included a component for warehousing commodities, including medical and non-medical items. We also conducted a stores space assessment and equipped over 200 service delivery points with storage, solar and IT equipment, thus establishing over 40 model institutions that have been used as peer reference points for learning.

Stockouts were reduced from 56% in 2011 to 2% in 2017, expiries were maintained at 0.11% by value and zero incidents of stock loss. The project ensured an uninterrupted supply of high-quality commodities to over 250,000 beneficiaries in Uganda.

Medical Access also enhanced the skills of over 2,000 service providers in logistics management of commodities through training, mentorship and coaching.

Health Commodity Supply Chain Improvement Project (HSIP)

Medical Access was awarded a 5-year Cooperative Agreement by HHS through the CDC to provide procurement, logistics management, warehousing, and distribution of medical and non-medical commodities, including building sustainable SCM best practices at the service delivery points through integrated automated processes, i.e. Rx Solution.

To date, zero stockouts have been registered, along with zero loss of stock and improved end-to-end data visibility of stock along the supply chain system. Under theHSIP project, We also procured approximately USD $1.4 million in commodities for refugees in CDC-supported districts.
