Our Background

Medical Access Uganda Limited (MAUL) started in 1998 as a pilot project of the Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) in collaboration with the Government of Uganda and participating pharmaceutical companies. It has since evolved into a leading distributor of pharmaceutical and healthcare products in Uganda.

MAUL negotiates for subsidized prices with International pharmaceutical companies for Antiretroviral (ARV) therapies and other drugs and sells them at the lowest possible prices. MAUL customers for ARVS are Ministry of Health accredited treatment centers.  Other customers include registered Pharmacies, Clinics and Hospitals for non antiretroviral (NARV) drugs.

MAUL has been involved in the procurement and distribution of drugs for PEPFAR funded clients as well as for other treatment sites approved by the Ministry of Health.  MAUL has been distributing drugs for Clinton Foundation HIV/AIDS Initiative (CHAI) in Uganda to all the implementing partner sites.  In an effort to further the objectives of its Partners, MAUL has established a distribution unit to deliver drugs to up country regional sites as specified.  MAUL has strengthened her procurement centre to be able to serve a diverse base of potential clients.
